British Columbia Financial Services Authority
The British Columbia Financial Services Authority (previously Real Estate Council of British Columbia) is a regulatory agency established by the provincial government. Its mandate is to protect the public interest by enforcing the licensing and licensee conduct requirements of the Real Estate Services Act. The Council is responsible for licensing individuals and brokerages engaged in real estate sales, rental and Strata Property Management.
Condominium Home Owners Association
CHOA is a non profit association that promotes the understanding of strata property living and the interests of strata property Owners by providing advisory services, education, advocacy, publications and resources and support for its members.
Strata Property Agents of BC (SPABC)
The Strata Property Agents ofBC is an industry association developed to represent the interests and issues of the many strata management companies working throughout the province of BC. The association was established in 2000 and represents dozens of property management companies - specifically residential strata management companies acting as "agents" for approximately 350,000 strata lots province wide.
Home Owners Protection Office
The Home Owner Protection Office (HPO) is a branch ofBC Housing, a Provincial Crown Agency under the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
HPO is responsible for:
- licensing residential builders and building envelope renovators province wide;
- administering Owner builder authorizations and;
- carrying out research and education which benefits the residential construction industry and consumers.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)
Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is Canada's national housing agency. Established in 1946 to address Canada's post-war housing shortage, the agency has grown into a major national institution. CMHC is Canada's premier provider of mortgage loan insurance, mortgage-backed securities, housing policy and programs and housing research.
